Unique features of the Absolute Multiline Technology
Absolute measurement
The Absolute Multiline Technology is the only absolute interferometer for long distances commercially available. It is based on a patented technology developed in cooperation with Oxford University. Between measurements, the beam can be broken or even directed to a different target.
Interferometric accuracy
The interferometric accuracy is achieved by direct traceability to molecular absorbtion peaks and the wavelength of the light. Under stable conditions, an accuracy of 0.3 µm per meter is realized.
Distance 0,01-50 m
Measured distances can vary from 0,01 m to 50 m. Measurement beams can be reflected from triple reflectors, cateye reflectors or - on small distances - directly from smooth surfaces.
Multichannel capability
The system can be configured from 4 to 120 channels, all channels synchronized to the nanosecond scale. Amplifiers can be integrated on demand. Due to the absolute measurement capability, even multiplexer switches can be used to multiply the number of channels beyond 120 channels.
Eye safe
The metrology is based on the telecom wavelength in the C-band (1530-1565 nm) and very small power (<200µW). Consequently, the measurement technology is absolutely eye safe and can use telecom components for signal distribution.
Metrological stability
The traceability to the meter is realized by an integrated gas cell. It is lifetime stable. Re-calibration is only required for the sensors for temperature, pressure and humditiy for refractive index compensation in air.
Robust sensors
The optical sensors do not have any electronic components and are very robust. They can be adapted to the application in size, material or collimation.
Cryogenic application
The optical sensors can be used in vacuum and under cryogenic applications, e.g. in beam lines or space simulation chambers. µRay can supply vacuum compatible fibres and sensors and vacuum feedthroughs.
Unlimited fiber length
Fiber transmission of the measurement signal was tested up to 7 km distance. Changes in the fiber (bending, thermal) do not affect the measurement. Even the use of an existing fiber network for data transmission between buildings was implemented.
NEW: Tracking units
Now the combination of the Absolute Multiline Technology with tracking units can be realized. This allows the measurement of moving targets with unprecedented accuracy in large volumes. The combination has already been used for the measurement of large optics in production and for alignment of large components with µm-accuracy.
